Our Reach
Women in Mining in Nigeria (WIMIN) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting women's inclusion at all levels of the Nigerian mineral exploration and mining sector. Our programs, rooted in community engagement, research, capacity building, strategic dialogue, advocacy, and campaigns, are built on principles of partnership and a rights-based approach. WIMIN's global recognition is founded on equity and the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children affected by artisanal mining. We believe in the transformative power of community engagement, emphasizing collaboration and relationship-building for sustainable development.
At WIMIN, we see the empowerment of women in the mining sector not just as a goal but as a transformative force, enriching individual lives and contributing substantively to the holistic development and prosperity of our communities. Join us in this transformative journey, as together, we mine for progress.
With a membership of approximately 1500, our influence spans nationwide, reaching over 27 states across Nigeria, reflecting our dedication to achieving a truly national impact. Beyond representation, WIMIN proudly operates across all levels of the mining value chain, from artisanal and small-scale mining to sophisticated trading, financing, and providing multidisciplinary professional services in geology, engineering, law, accounting, insurance, technology, and more.
