Meet Our October WIMTI Speaker, Amina Ruth Sijuwade

Amina Ruth Sijuwade is a Lawyer from Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A two-time Commissioner, first as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and then as the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources. These executive positions were held between 2015 and 2019 in Kaduna State.

She also has considerable private sector experience garnered from various management positions in organisations like the Abuja Investment and Property Development Company AIPDC, Northern Numero Resources Ltd (NNR Ltd), Abuja, a gold exploration company, and Business Development and Investments Limited (BDI Ltd), Abuja, a business development consultancy which was responsible for the development of a state-wide strategy for the development of the solid minerals sector in Kaduna state.

With her extensive involvement in the mining sector, Amina Sijuwade has particular interest in ensuring the nation achieves sustainable development from the exploration and exploitation of its natural resources.

She is currently the Director, Iron Ore Mining Ltd, a subsidiary of Aurelia Mining Ltd; A UK based company deeply invested in gold mining in Nigeria.

Sijuwade holds a BA (Hons) in English Studies from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State (1988), and a BL (Hons) in Law from the University of Buckingham, Buckingham, United Kingdom (1994), and was called to the Nigerian Bar in the year 1995.

She is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Kaduna Branch, the International Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA, as well as Women in Mining Nigeria, WIMIN.
